My name is Nataleigh, and this is Lucy Lu.

We met in 2013 thanks to a wonderful woman who rescues dogs from high-risk shelters, brings them home, and finds them loving families. Lucy was the “ugliest” dog in the shelter — whiny, nervous, and overlooked by everyone else. But when I read her bio, I saw myself in her story: she needed a quiet home with a single pet parent. I had just lost my beloved Charchar and was working as a massage therapist from home — my space was more like a meditation studio than a house. Quiet? I had it in abundance.

I held Lucy in my arms, and within minutes, she stopped shaking. It felt like she had always belonged there. Since that day, we’ve been inseparable.
